    A National Register Historic District, the Downtown district is characterized by classic examples of commercial architecture developed in the early 20th century. The city's first high-rises can be found here; most notably Atlanta's version of the famed flat-iron building — the English American building — is at the corner of Peachtree, Broad and Poplar streets.

  • Fox Theatre

    This 1929, lavish movie palace is a showplace of Moorish-Egyptian style. Today it is used for concerts, theatrical productions and movies. Call for a schedule of events. The Atlanta Preservation Center offers year-round tours.

  • Freedom Park

    The 210-acre park is popular with runners and cyclists. It is located along Freedom Parkway and stretches from Boulevard to Ponce de Leon to the north, and Candler Park Drive to the east.

    Learn the history of Underground Atlanta, stories of how Atlanta began and what life was like in the 1800s. See Underground Atlanta, the Union Depot site, the Connelly Building and the viaducts, which created the underground area. Tours F-Sa at 11 am, 1&3 pm, Su at 1&3 pm. Tickets $5 per person for groups of 10 or more.
