Japanese, French and American cuisine is paired with five-star sashimi and sushi in a sophisticated setting with views of Atlanta’s skyline. Noted for its sushi menu by CitySearch, the restaurant is also a Zagat favorite. Executive Chefs Jun Oh and Jeff Jung prepare the traditional Japanese Gon Ro presentation of filet mignon served on burning coals, while the lounge offers a good selection of both wine and sake. Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s second foray into Atlanta just opened at the W Buckhead (his first, Spice, opened at the W Atlanta Midtown in April 2008). The chic comfort food concept is headed by Chef de Cuisine Ian Winslade; the multicultural menu taps French, Asian and Italian influences for dishes including Maine lobster with crispy potatoes and spicy aioli, truffle fontina pizza, glazed beef short ribs and bacon-wrapped shrimp with avocado and passion fruit mustard. Call for hours.
This happening Phipps Plaza spot from Here to Serve Restaurant Group caters to a young, hip crowd. The menu slants toward seafood and sushi, but also offers satays, tapas and wraps. Great happy hours, martini specials, late night fare, Dim Sum Sundays and patio dining. L (M-S), D (daily). (AE, DC, DS, MC, V)
